Kava is the powdered root of the Piper methysticum plant and is most commonly consumed as a relaxation-inducing drink in the Pacific Islands. When applied topically as a paste, it can relieve sore muscles, inflammation, fungal infections and bites.
Whilst cruising though Fiji on our sailboat, traditional Fijian culture dictates that kava should be gifted to the Chief of the villages that you intend to visit to show respect and ask for permission to anchor in their waters. Kava has been traditionally used as a ritual drink in Fiji to calm and promote friendliness when two different tribes come together to meet and discuss issues. There is never aggression after drinking Kava.
Because Kava looks and tastes unpleasant (like muddy water!), it is quickly swallowed rather than sipped. Our soap contains only a small amount of powdered Fijian Kava, mainly for it’s gentle exfoliating effect, and is scented with lime and rosemary essential oils to give it a fresh and citrusy scent.
Our soap is made with only pure plant oils and butters from ethical sources and botanical extracts and clays so it is gentle on your skin and fully biodegradable. Our soaps are safe for septic systems and grey water re-use.
Keep soap on a well draining soap dish for extended life. Our natural and compostable coconut fibre soap rests are perfect for this.
